May 13, 2026After successfully empowering thousands of young people through civic engagement, health education, digital innovation, and youth-centred urban planning, the Young and Safe Project is entering an exciting new chapter.
We are pleased to announce the Young and Safe Project Extension—a four month sustainability phase focused on ensuring that the project’s achievements become permanent systems that continue to benefit the youth of Ho long after the project’s implementation.
The extension is not about starting new activities. It is about strengthening what has already been built and embedding it within local institutions, communities, and partnerships.
Over the next four months, the project will focus on four key priorities:
- Strengthening youth participation in local governance by supporting the Ho Youth Council and expanding the reach and transitioning the Y-raido show into a podcast to sustain the youth advocacy voices of young people.
- Sustaining youth health and wellbeing by strengthening Young and Safe Clubs in schools, expanding access to mental, reproductive, and cyber health information, and growing the Fafa App as a trusted digital gateway to youth support services.
- Advancing the Ho Youth Park by supporting the integration of the redevelopment plan into municipal planning processes while mobilizing partnerships and investment for its future development.
- Building stronger partnerships by bringing together government institutions, civil society organisations, development partners, and the private sector to coordinate efforts that improve youth wellbeing across Ho.
This extension reflects an important shift—from project implementation to long-term ownership. By embedding youth-led initiatives into local governance structures, strengthening community institutions, and creating sustainable partnerships, we are laying the foundation for a future where young people remain active, engaged, informed, and empowered.
The Young and Safe Project Extension is made possible through the continued support of our partners and the commitment of the young people of Ho, whose ideas, leadership, and participation continue to shape a more inclusive and youth-friendly city.
Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing stories, milestones, partnerships, and opportunities to get involved as we work together to secure a lasting legacy for the next generation.
