From Stress Talks to Karaoke Chaos: How Last Friday Hangout Became Volta Region’s Ultimate Night of Connection
Picture Story: Last Friday Hangout — Open Mic Edition
Adulting in Ho can really try you. One minute you’re promising yourself a quiet Friday indoors; the next, you’re at Bula Lounge for Last Friday Hangout, singing your lungs out with strangers who suddenly feel like old schoolmates.
That was exactly the energy at Last Friday Hangout: Open Mic Edition on April 24, 2026.
In partnership with FAFA AI, the night wasn’t just vibes for vibes’ sake. It was where techies, creatives, 9-5 survivors, students, and “I just came to relax” people all gathered for one unforgettable night of music, games, networking, and real conversations about mental health.
First Things First: No Room for Awkwardness
From the moment people walked in, it was clear this wasn’t one of those stand-in-the-corner-and-scroll events.
Guests were assigned colour tribes: Green, Yellow, or Pink, basically turning strangers into teammates immediately. Before long, board games were heating up, VR headsets were in action, video games were claiming victims, and conversations were flowing like everyone had known each other since Junior high school.
Our MCs, Ackon and Delight, understood the assignment. They officially split the room into tribes and gave everyone one mission: find common ground with your people.
Then Things Got Real
Just when everyone was fully settled, FAFA AI took center stage with a question that hit deep:
“How do you manage stress or depression?”
Whew!
The night kicked off with young creatives openly sharing how they navigate stress, and honestly, the answers were as real as they come. From sleeping, going out, watching movies, and talking to someone, to words of affirmation and journaling, it became clear that everyone is figuring it out one coping mechanism at a time.
One standout voice was Dorothy, a student at the University of Health and Allied Sciences and an NGO professional, who shared:
“Most of my stress usually comes from the work I do, so I’ve learned to write things down, list them out, and figure them out on paper. It helps me process everything better.”
Karaoke? Oh, We Came to SING
Gbedemah Counsellor kicked things off with a Black Sherif anthem, and suddenly the entire lounge became one giant choir. Later, Sunday Tolulope took things up a notch with Burna Boy’s Ye, and by then, any remaining composure had officially left the building. Brain Dzansi had us all singing Travie McCoy’s I want to be Billionaire out loud for the rest of the night.
Tribe Wars: Friendly, But Intense
The games brought pure chaos in the best way possible. Rapid-fire rounds of “Guess the Image,” song battles, and artist callouts had every tribe fully locked in, competing as their reputation depended on it.
The 11:59 Creator
Fresh off their Young and Loud Season Three victory, the 11:59 Creators were the kind of closing act that makes you forget you were ever tired.
The synchronized choreography locked in on every movement displayed. Every transition was sharp and clean.
End of Night
The Last Friday Hangout, Open Mic Edition, brought together a diverse community for a night that moved between vulnerability and celebration, reflection and noise, exactly the kind of Friday night worth showing up for.
