First Farms is nurturing a new generation of young, successful farm entrepreneurs (under 35) who are driving local economic growth. Through sustainable, climate-smart farms, they are creating jobs, producing high-quality, safe food for local consumption, supplying key industry value chains, and contributing to exports.

Problem

Ghana is struggling with rising youth unemployment (28%) and soaring food prices, which contribute to widespread food insecurity. Significant rural-urban migration adds to these challenges, creating an urgent need for innovative solutions

Solution

First Farms is a nine-month program designed to inspire young people to pursue farming as a career. The program removes barriers to entry and reduces failure risks, enabling participants to establish mid-sized, climate-smart farms in Ghana. It offers young farmers comprehensive training, essential resources, and market access for long-term success. First Farms operates in three stages: Training and certification, farm incubation, and market access through the Alor App
