Ho City, May 1, 2023 – Node Eight, a digital innovation hub is thrilled to announce the launch of “The Young and Safe” project in Ho, Volta region, Ghana. The project is a collaboration between Node Eight, Ho Municipal Assembly, LoveAid Foundation, Ghana Education Service and is supported by Fondation Botnar through the Healthy Cities for Adolescents Project (HCA-||), managed by Ecorys UK.
Ho is a bustling city with a fast-growing young population, who are confronted with youthful struggles such as mental health, sexual health, safety, unemployment among others. Sadly, there is limited opportunity for young people to participate in city governance, which leaves them feeling removed from decisions that have an impact on their lives. This disconnect underscores the significance of The Young and Safe project.
The three-year initiative aims to address key issues such as youth participation in city governance, sexual and reproductive health, mental health support, creative self-expression, and digital employment opportunities. The initiative aims to develop an inclusive and supportive community for young people in Ho, Volta region, Ghana by leveraging the capabilities of each partner. The Young and Safe project will also increase young people’s employability by helping them build their digital innovation and entrepreneurship competencies.
“We are confident that this project will have a transformative impact on young people’s lives in the city and will ensure they have a seat at the table when it comes to decision-making in the city. This will make it safer, healthier, and more inclusive,” says Courage Asase, Managing Director, Node Eight.
