The Shifting Business Paradigm in the Volta Region of Ghana

The Ho Node Hub, a business incubation hub based in the Volta Region has monitored with great optimism, the growth of trade, tourism and agribusiness with technology providing a propelling drive in the Volta Region of Ghana.

The Region has, in the past few months, seen several successful trades and industry boosting events including the 5th Volta Trade and Investment Fair which Ho node Hub played key roles in organizing.

The Fair saw several businesses displaying their products at the Ho sports stadium during a two week period within which several amounts of sales were made with many more business contacts built.

Some patrons of the Volta trade and investment fair told the Ghana News Agency that they were “satisfied with the event and the business opportunities it made available for the entrepreneurs in the Volta Region and beyond”.

Ho Node Hub partnered with the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council in the organization of a well patronized Young entrepreneurs breakfast meeting at the Skyplus Hotel.

The breakfast meeting saw about two hundred youths drawn from various parts of the Region discuss business interests in the area.

Under the moderation of the celebrated host of Citi Breakfast Show Bernard Avle and the esteemed Dzifa Gbeho-Bampoe of TV3, 10 established business owners from the Volta Region took turns in panel to discuss their personal stories and share business lessons with the audience.

The Panels discussed Agribusiness, Value addition and funding opportunities for startups.

The Agribusiness panel shared by Sanyo Hosi of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors, Dr. Felix Mawuli Kamasah of Maphlix Trust Ghana Ltd. and Rev. Foster Mawuli Benson who is CEO of Glofert Ghana Ltd shared varied experiences from their business development journeys with the audience.

The “startup funding” panel which was shared by the Head of research at Tesa Capital, Dr. Eli Agbloryor, CEO of DCI microfinance, Selassie Woanya and a representative from GCB Bank Ghana discussed technical requirements for startups in becoming credit ready and worthy.

The final panel which discussed value addition featured astute film director of international fame, Leila Dzansi and Emi-Berth Quantson who produces celebrated Ghananain Coffee, KawaMoka alongside Kafui Adza who is famed for her innovative and thriving catering business known as Akosombo Bar.

Ho Node Hub also organized a business startup pitch event that awarded three startups a total of Ghs. 36,000.00.

The winners will also be enrolled on the Node Venture Incubator program where they will be provided with a co-working space as they receive business and technical support to build and take their products to market.

Speaking during a Joy News Programme dubbed ‘the probe’, Managing Director of Ho Node Hub, Courage Komla Asase acknowledged that “the events of the trade and investment fair is a significant step in moving towards entrepreneurship and job creation in the Volta Region”.
