We are the MTN Tech Hub of 2023.  

Last Friday (January 19, 2024), Node Eight clinched the Tech Hub Awards at the 2023 MTN Platforms Accelerator Competition. In its third year, the MTN Platforms Accelerator Competition convened over 30 inventive start-ups, backed by 20 tech hubs throughout Ghana. The event provided a platform for these startups to showcase how their innovative concepts seamlessly integrate MTN’s MoMo, utilize MTN chenosis APIs, and construct micro-apps destined for inclusion on MTN Ayoba—Africa’s premier super app—to achieve their business objectives. 

Node Eight emerged victorious by surpassing 22 competitors nationwide, securing the prestigious Tech Hub Award. As a community, we proudly backed two startups—Wasteman Gh and Aduane Fie Marketplace—enabling their participation in the competition. Our active engagement during the accelerator roadshow across the country garnered recognition, further solidifying Node Eight as the most engaged community. 

In acknowledgement of our achievement, Node Eight was honoured with a prize package that included GH₵50,000, an enduring partnership with MTN Ayoba, a certificate of distinction, and exclusive souvenirs courtesy of MTN Ghana and Ayoba.

Additionally, we are excited that Wasteman Ghana, a startup in our community, a leading waste management startup service with recycling as its priority, won in the Expert’s Choice category.  

This award reflects the hard work we have put in over the past 6 years. We have been focused on providing job opportunities for young folks by teaching digital skills, running programs to support startups, and building a community that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship among young people. This achievement is dedicated to our awesome team: Brian, Courage, Michael, Perfect, Seth, Xorse, Dennis, David, Dela, Joana, Jonathan, Chris, and everyone else. You guys rock!  

This award will fuel our initiatives in 2024. We aim to nurture 200 ethical digital talents this year, launch 5 innovative startups through our Eight Fellowship Incubator, and engage with over 5000 young people through our digital literacy outreach programs.
