Wateman-gh, an innovative waste management that utilizes technology in its operations has clinched the coveted expert-choice award at the MTN Platforms Accelerator Competition 2023. The event was held at the MTN Ghana headquarters in Accra on January 19, 2023. Wasteman is one of the startups Node Eight supported to participate in the competition.
Wasteman stood out as the top solution among a pool of 100 startups nationwide, impressing the MTN platform experts on the judging panel, which included Dario Bianchi (Chief Digital Officer, MTN Ghana), Makafui Agbodza, Winnie Dzidonu, and other esteemed members who dialled in from the South Africa Headquarters.
Their innovative platform incorporates MTN Momo for seamless monthly payments from users, facilitating efficient waste collection booking. Additionally, they actively engage with the MTN Ayoba platform to oversee community management, share valuable information, and educate users on waste reduction, segregation tips, and home-based waste reuse.
Wasteman returns to Ho with a cash prize of GH₵20,000 and certificates, along with lifelong partnerships with MTN. This includes a unique opportunity to feature their applications on the Ayoba platform, which has more than 10 million active users in Ghana and over 21 million across the African continent.

Wasteman-gh Limited leverages innovation and technology to offer punctual waste pickup, encourage source segregation through incentives, provide household-specific data on waste generation, and ensure a smooth payment experience for its clients.
