Young and Safe Code2Job scholarship launched to empower young people in Ho to develop innovations that benefit the city
October 10, 2023Hey there, vibrant youth of Ho!
Guess what? According to the 2021 National Population Census, we’re the real powerhouse in our city. We’re brimming with energy, bursting with ambitions, and dreaming of a brighter tomorrow. The time has arrived for us to step up, shout out, and mould the destiny of our beloved city.
But as you know, one of the big issues we face is the lack of young voices in Ho City’s decision-making circles. Seriously, most of the folks in the Ho Municipal Assembly are over 35, and that often means youth-friendly projects get left on the sidelines. But guess what? We can change that!
So, here’s the deal: The ongoing 2023 Voters Registration Exercise isn’t just a civic duty; it’s our golden ticket to building a healthier, fairer, and more inclusive Ho.
If you’re 18 years or older and haven’t registered for that all-important voter’s ID card yet, let me give you four rock-solid reasons why you shouldn’t be slacking on this:
- Bridge the Representation Gap: We can help bridge the gap by getting into local elections and supporting youth candidates who get what we need. Let’s make sure our voices are heard loud and clear!
- Demand Accountability: Voting isn’t just a mark on a ballot; it’s like giving our elected officials a nudge and saying, “Hey, we’re watching, and we expect you to represent us.” If they don’t, guess what? We can vote them out. It’s how we keep them on their toes.
- Shape Policies for Us: Our well-being matters, right? There are some cool projects happening, like the Healthy Cities for Adolescents Project, aiming to make our lives better. By registering and voting, we can make sure these projects get the attention they deserve.
- Legal Responsibility and Civic Duty: Okay, this one might sound a bit serious, but it’s true. It’s not just about being responsible; it’s about being a good citizen. When we come of age, the Constitution kinda expects us to play our part in making our society better. Voting is one way we do that.
Feeling convinced?
