Digital technologies are rapidly changing all aspects of our lives - how we work, engage each other and have fun.
The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of digital tools across the world. The market for talents who can build and manage these digital tools is rapidly growing.
As noted in LinkedIn’s 2020 Emerging Jobs Report, more than half of the jobs in 2020 were related to engineering or development — including fast-growing roles like Artificial Intelligence Specialist, JavaScript Developer, Cloud Engineer, and Robotics Engineer. Likewise, Indeed’s Best Jobs of 2020 named seven of their top 10 roles in tech.
Ho Node Hub is riding on the tech adoption wave to empower young people in our community with the digital skills they require to be ready for the new job market in the digital economy or start their ventures.
We launched our Code BootCamp program on February 15, 2021. The goal of the program is to create a pipeline of at least 50 employment-ready software developers by the end of the year.
The first cohort of the program is focused on training full-stack web developers. The full-stack web development boot camp runs for four months. The trainees would be immersed in intensive training for the first three months of the program in the latest web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, Node, MongoDB, etc. The Bootcamp curriculum is co-designed with developers and hinged on micro-projects to ensure the students develop practical coding skills.
At the end of the training session, the new devs would be placed with our technology partners for a 1-month virtual internship. The internship program would ensure the students build soft skills and be receive mentorship from senior developers.
The program is partially funded but is required to pay a fee to encourage commitment.
The upcoming cohorts of the code boot camps would be in DevOps, Mobile app development, and Machine learning Skills.
Here are ways you can support our mission of creating a pathway for future developers:
1. Adopt a student: Pay 500 to sponsor a student to attend the course for free
2. Mentorship: Give 1/hour of your time a week to mentor a student developer
3. Internship: Offer an internship slot for our trainees remotely
4. Donate to the program: We have a lot of operations bills to pay to keep the program running. You can donate in-kind (laptops) or in cash to ensure we keep the program running.
5. Support Ho Node: Share Ho Node in our networks to increase the reach of our impact stories.
