30 Youth Empowered to Drive Change Through Advocacy and Governance
February 21, 2025
Node Women Champions Gender Equality in STEM on International Women’s Day
March 9, 2025We’re excited to announce a powerful step forward in the Young and Safe project. Thirty young advocates will lead targeted advocacy efforts throughout 2025 to help transform Ho Municipality into a youth-friendly city.
We selected these passionate leaders from civil society organizations and youth groups, including Eclectic Love, Lead For Ghana, and the Center for Achievement. In February 2025, they completed the Youth Leadership and Advocacy Training Cohort Three, where they gained practical skills in civic engagement, digital advocacy, and community mobilization.
The training equipped them to participate effectively in local governance, rally young people around key social issues, and use digital tools to raise awareness and inspire action. Now, these advocates are ready to lead, speak up, and drive change.
What Will They Focus On?
These passionate young leaders are ready to take action on the issues that matter most to them and to the youth of Ho. In 2025, they will focus on several key areas of community development:
- Improving waste management by advocating for efficient systems and encouraging community participation in sanitation to boost public health.
- Strengthening the Ho Youth Parliament to ensure youth voices influence policymaking at the local level.
- Equipping Assembly Members with digital tools to enhance communication, transparency, and public engagement.
- Promoting cultural and historical awareness to foster civic pride and a stronger sense of community identity among young people.
- Advocating for enhanced street lighting to improve safety in public spaces.
- Pushing for better road networks and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure to make mobility safer and more accessible for all.
These actions reflect their deep commitment to creating a more inclusive, safe, and youth-responsive city.

Empowering Young Leaders
At Young and Safe, we are dedicated to equipping these young leaders with the skills they need to advocate effectively. This third cohort follows two successful previous cohorts. Youth Leadership and Advocacy Training Cohort One, focused on foundational advocacy skills, exploring the importance of community engagement and leadership, while the Youth Leadership and Advocacy Training Cohort Two empowered young leaders to use storytelling as a tool for social change, helping them communicate effectively about the issues that matter most.
As our project coordinator, for the Young and Safe Project, Perfect Amegboe, put it, “We envision the 2025 Young and Safe Advocates becoming bold catalysts for systemic change within their communities. Over the next 10 months, they will amplify youth voices in local governance and help shape a more youth-inclusive and responsive city system.”
The 2025 Young and Safe advocates are ready to take the lessons learned and turn them into impactful actions within Ho Municipality. Their dedication to addressing critical issues reflects their commitment to creating a better future for all residents of Ho and beyond.
As these young advocates embark on their journey, we are excited to see how their efforts will lead to lasting change and inspire others to join the movement. Together, let’s support our youth as they shape the future of Ho Municipality!
Follow the Young and Safe on social media; Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, and Instagram to share in the advocacy journeys of these remarkable young leaders and be part of the change!
