Remote working models have become the new normal. The COVID-19 pandemic has compelled a lot of companies to explore the option of their employees working from home. What does this mean for the future of work? The fifth edition of the Ho developers’ meet up had two speakers who have been working remote jobs to lead the conversation on how to devs can find remote jobs, work productively and stay sane while working long hours behind a PC alone at home. The meetup was on Sunday , August 2020 at the Node Hub premises.
First, Komla, our Programs Manager Kickoff the event with a brief welcome note to the devs present.
We had a lot of new faces at the v5. Rosemond, our community champion made sure everyone felt at home and welcomed.
Then came the fun part of the meetup - the Techie Games. It was exciting cracking math puzzles for special node gifts :)
It was now time to get into the conversation of the day.

Mr. Dzamesi touched on The Search process, Application process and Steps to Maintaining a remote dev Job.
He used his the story of how we got his current job on movemeback.com and cold calling the CEO on Linkedlin as an example of how devs could take advantage of remote job opportunities available. He also explained to the devs how they could structure their CVs, focus on building portorfolio and prepare for remote interviews.
On maintaining a remote job, Mr. Dzamesi reiterated the need for devs to build trust and credibility by ensuring that timeline or deadlines for deliverables are met. He also shared the productivity hacks and tools he uses while working remotely like Slack, Asana, Google sheets etc., and stressed on the need to have a good internet connectivity to ensure effective and efficient communication.
Mr Dzamesi's presentation was [fire emoji] and engaging. He responded to the several questions the devs asked to seek clarity on their dev path.
