The opportunity:
The research monitoring, evaluation, & learning intern assists the research and evaluation manager in carrying out qualitative and quantitative research projects that are in line with the hub’s purpose. The selected candidate will assist the RMEL lead to ensure that project goals are met and that lessons learned are acknowledged and communicated.
The position allows the applicant to gain professional skills through training and on-the-job learning.
What you will do:
Research
- Conduct literature reviews
- Contribute to data collection, analysis, and report writing
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning
- Assist in developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation plans for the hub’s projects and programs.
- Assist in designing and managing data collection systems and tools, including surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, and other methods.
- Support in the analysis and reporting of project data and provide regular updates to project teams and senior management.
- Assist with maintaining a database of project data, ensuring the information is accurate, complete, and available to the project teams and stakeholders.
- Assist in developing and implementing learning agendas and systems to promote continuous learning and improvement.
- Assist in disseminating project and program results and lessons learned to internal and external stakeholders through reports, presentations, and other communication channels.
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in statistics, economics, social science, or related fields (or currently enrolled in a program).
- Experience in quantitative research, monitoring, and evaluation, preferably in the development sector (experience can be through coursework or internships).
- Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation principles and methods, data collection tools and techniques, and data analysis methodologies.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- A strong analytical mind and excellent writing abilities.
- Knowledge of data collection tools, statistical software, and data visualization packages is a plus.
- Knowledge of and interest in youth development issues and entrepreneurship.
