For Priscilla Arthur, the comfort zone is a dangerous place to live. A little over three months ago, she joined us at Node Eight, zealous about acquiring a new skill. In today’s post, she shares her experience navigating the terrains of digital marketing as a registered general nurse.
Who is Priscilla Arthur?
Priscilla Arthur is a young, enthusiastic Ghanaian who graduated from the University of Health and Allied Sciences with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Also, She likes to write fictional stories and watch documentaries and movies. She is passionate about making a difference and helping people to discover themselves and make meaning out of their lives.
What led you to Node Eight?
I am someone who loves to learn new stuff. I decided to register when I saw the flier from Node Eight advertising the Pre-MEST digital marketing program. At the time, I had just completed my national service in Ho, so I saw no harm in using two to three months to learn new skills. I had little knowledge about digital marketing until I started the program. I figured it would be a relevant skill to learn. I have always felt the need to influence through my YouTube channel and other social media platforms.
What was your most meaningful moment during the training?
I’d say it was the soft skills sessions and the networking. Personally, the class assignment periods were opportunities to network with other trainees. I got to know them and made great friends too. I feel we were laid back during the soft skill sessions because they were on Fridays. However, I discovered the relevance of these soft skills during my internship.

How has your internship experience been?
It has been a wonderful experience. It took me a while to adjust to the corporate setting since this was my first time working under such conditions.
Was the experience different from your time at the hospital?
Yes, It was disparate. Unlike the hospital setting, where you know what you are supposed to do on your shift, the corporate environment is different. I had to learn how to work remotely. I was assigned tasks and had to collaborate with other team members to execute them. Fortunately, I had the best leads who guided me and gave me countless opportunities to learn and develop my skills.

Have you found an interest in any particular field?
So far, I have identified my knack for writing copies. It may be because part of my role at Leadmonger included writing newsletters and content for digital platforms. Therefore, I would like to specialize in copywriting/content writing.
In what way has Node Eight been instrumental to your digital marketing journey?
Node Eight is a great hub. My mentors stayed in contact even after the training, offering assistance and advice to help me during my internship with Leadmonger. Node Eight is a community I’d like to stick with throughout my marketing journey.
Before you go, do you have any advice for aspiring digital marketers?
Take the bold step and pursue your dream. Be open to venturing into new paths. You may never know what the future holds.
