The gender digital divide worldwide continues to serve as a debilitating factor for underdevelopment in most of the world’s least developed countries.
Girls and women still have less access to technology compared to boys and men, with technology affordability and internet access ranking high at 32.9 per cent.
To close this yawning gap, incentives, quotas and deliberate targeting of females in technology access and training plays significant roles in ensuring that more females are roped into the digital evolution space.
To that effect, Ho Node Hub in partnership with Soronko Academy, Ghana Tech Lab as part of the National Female Pre Tech Training Program; a Mastercard Foundation Young Africa Works Program has initiated a free Mobile Application Development training for females between the ages of 18 and 35.
National Female PreTech Training Program which began at the Node Hub on Monday, August, 30, will for the next 3 weeks, introduce participants to the basics in Mobile App development and other Technology skills for personal growth and career development.
In cognizance that closing the digital skills gender gap required safe spaces for especially women to thrive, the Node Hub has created a gender friendly environment to ensure that women and girls fully benefit from programs designed to contribute to their empowerment.
