The outbreak of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 has redefined life as we know it.
We cannot be at Public gatherings like schools, churches, parties, funerals among others for fear of infection or even death.
Bread winners are losing jobs and income to cater for themselves and dependants.
Several measures have been put in place by the authorities and key stakeholders to curb the spread. However, the most effective weapon against the spread is Us, yes You and Me.
As we continue to wash our hands as often as possible with soap under running water or use alcohol based hand sanitisers regularly, we are also being urged to stay home unless it is necessary to go out.
If you have to go out, ensure you maintain social distance and wear face masks. Research has proven that wearing face masks can significantly reduce the spread and contain the virus.
Yet, in Ho, the Volta Regional Capital, we still see our mothers in the market, taxi drivers, food venders, security officers among others still not wearing masks.
It is for this reason that the Ghana Corporative Fashion Designers Association - Ho Branch in collaboration with Volta Online is undertaking the #Mask_Up_Ho_Campaign. The Campaign which is supported by Kalored Concepts, Ho-Node Hub and Sefotos is sewing over a 1000 face masks to be distributed to market traders, taxi drivers, security services and other vulnerable groups for use
.
We know this is not enough, but it is our own small way of supporting the fight against COVID-19. You can also do your little part by adhering to the measures or also buying nose masks and sharing to your neighbours or other vulnerable groups.
If you wish to support this campaign, contact us on these numbers. You can also send us a message on facebook via Volta Onlinegh.
Until then Mask Up and Stay Safe.
