A lot has changed here at the Hub and globally since the last edition of our monthly Developers Meetup. Prior to the global pandemic, life was normal and meeting up with our community of developers to discuss technology and digital innovation whilst networking was fun.
Most regular activities came to a standstill in the last five months. However, one thing that has thrived is the adoption of technology and innovation. Now more than ever, we need to support developers with community and opportunities to develop new tools for navigating life in the “new normal”
Inspired by this, we are bringing back our monthly gathering of techies and developers to take a break from their screens and also share their covid experiences with each other.
The fifth editions of the monthly Developers Meetup come off on Sunday, August 23, 2020, at Node Hub’s premises (Off bob Coffie hostel) from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The speakers for the meetup are Mr. Nii Ashitey Armah, Country Manager- Enpact, and Mr. Daniel Kofi Dzamesi, Senior Product Owner-Jumo Ghana Limited.
This event does not only bring techies and developers together as a community but also gives room to anyone who has an interest in the technology to join in the conversation. Our Developers Meetups, provide a platform for participants to network and build lasting relationships to drive digital innovation and change in Ghana. Participants of our previous meetups have collaborated on projects with new friends they made at the event. Many received valuable feedback to improve their products in the demo session of the meetup.
In this edition, we discuss how to find remote job opportunities as a developer, work efficiently online whilst staying ‘sane’. We believe these are things we need to look at if we want to promote innovation in this “new normal”. The sanity of the mind breeds innovation and the ability of developers to be able to keep the lights on and paying the bills in these unusual times is essential.
Here is a testimonial from a past attendee of the Node Dev Meetup.
“There wasn't anything like a community for developers to learn and share ideas here in Ho. The Node Hub Developers Meetup provided such an avenue for my colleagues and I back in school. I have been to three of the Meetups so far and it has been very insightful. In one of the meetups, we discussed pricing and branding. This has helped me in my job as a freelance web designer and as a young graduate. ”Jerry Aidoo -TownDistrict Studios.
To ensure our developers are safe to interact among themselves, we have stepped up our game to host safe outdoor and indoor events following all Covid-19 safety protocols such as masking up, frequent washing of hands, and social distancing.
